DIVORCE

We counsel clients in all aspects of divorce with particular attention to the financial ramifications of the divorcing process. In New York, assets are equitably divided between the parties as determined by the court or agreed by the parties and the lawyer plays a key role in helping to determine what is equitable.  Most of our cases are successfully negotiated to a settlement but often the reputation of the firm as willing and able to take a case to trial is the underlying reason that the cases settle.
New York requires a fault ground to divorce although no-fault grounds are available to parties who can reach agreement and are willing to wait a year to be divorced. For a complete list of the grounds for divorce, please refer to the New York Domestic Relations Law Section 170.
